Summery of Essay
Thesis – In Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, the will to live drives Pi to overcome physical, emotional, and lifestyle challenges throughout his 227 day journey of survival in the Pacific Ocean.
First Body Paragraph – Pi battles many physical challenges to stay alive during his journey. Lack of food, fresh water, and shelter were Pi’s main physical concerns.
Second Body Paragraph – The emotionally distraught young Pi used his will to live to fight through his depression, loneliness, and fear.
Third Body Paragraph – The will to live pushed Pi to change his lifestyles that he so strongly believed in. His life of pacifism and vegetarianism were over, but inevitably increased Pi’s religiosity.
